The Art of Exceptional Living by Jim Rohn - Two Part CD Review

Title and Author: The Art of Exceptional Living by Jim Rohn – Two Part CD

Synopsis of Content:

Some years ago Jim Rohn collected many of his best seminar talks into this dual CD on exceptional living. In many ways this is the best of Jim Rohn. It includes many of his well known stories and principles and covers what he believed to be the fundamentals of success.

It is difficult to review this with justice in a brief report like this because Rohn’s material is so rich with meaningful quotes and principles. In summary Rohn teaches us that success is entirely within our control and based on our intentions and out efforts or the lack of them. It is your attitude toward life and your reaction to what happens to you that determine your success – not what happens to you.

How you see the world and react to it is what Rohn calls your philosophy, or metaphorically it is the set of your sail. Life’s winds and storms will blow against you no matter what; you have no control over that. But your control and efforts in response to what happens is the set of your sail.

Once this message is thoroughly explained Rohn goes on to give priceless advice about how to trim your sail and act upon your philosophy to gain success.

A wise listener will listen to this two hour talk many times and will glean something of value from it each time.

Readability/Writing Quality:

Jim Rohn was an accomplished public speaker and understood the turn of a phrase well. It is easy to listen to him and he speaks at a level that anyone who understands basic English will grasp readily.

Notes on Author:

Jim Rohn often spoke about how he started in life as a humble farm boy in Idaho and came to be rich and famous. As a young man he was broke and going nowhere fast. His first mentor, Mr. Earl Shoaf, began his education on these fundamentals. For over 40 years Rohn learned more and more about success and building wealth and went on teaching what he learned to thousands of audiences and millions of people through an exhausting speaking schedule around the world, through his small books and mostly through is famous audio programs. Many of today’s success authors such as Anthony Robbins and Success Magazine editor Darren Hardy got their start studying under Rohn.

Three Great Ideas You Can Use:

1. The greatest value in life is not what you’ve got; it’s what you’ve become. The major determining factor in how your life turns out is your personal philosophy.

2. The definition of failure is a few errors in judgment repeated every day. The definition of success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day.

3. You get paid for bringing value to the marketplace. It takes time to bring that value to the marketplace, but you are not paid for your time, you are paid for the value you bring. Increase the value you bring and you increase your income. Increase your skills and you increase the value you bring.
